Scheduled for release in fall 2016, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate Version 16.1 promises to simplify everything you do in the system with a newly redesigned desktop.

Everything You Need In One Place
You can customize the redesigned Desktop so that everything you need is in one place and easy to access including:
- Sage 300 Construction tasks, reports, and inquiries you use often
- Other applications that integrate with Sage 300 like Sage Construction Anywhere or Sage Service Operations
- Web pages you need to access while performing your job
- Save a collection of any of the above as your “Favorites”
More Than Just a Pretty Face
Improvements to the Desktop are more than just cosmetic. It’s primarily designed to be much more functional. Everything essential to your job is now more accessible than ever. Personalize how you access tasks, files, and web links and get more accomplished in less time.
You can even click to get live Sage support, on the fly, which provides instant access to your favorite Sage resources such as live chat or Sage City, stopping or re-launching Sage 300.
In addition, you can group together common every-day tasks based on job function for added convenience. For instance, you can set up task groups so you can quickly switch when you’re working on payroll rather than AP, or billing rather than general ledger.
Get to the data you need more quickly by generating multiple parametrized Crystal Reports simultaneously and navigate from tab to tab or launch tasks from the menu—even as a report runs in the background.

Getting Familiar with the New Desktop
Getting up to speed on the new Sage 300 CRE desktop is simple.
After you upgrade and launch Version 16.1, an informative welcome window will open up and walk you through the features.

Notes About Upgrading
If you customized your Desktop in a prior version, you can select and upgrade that desktop file.
Before installing 16.1, make a note of the location of your existing desktop configuration and then after installing version 16.1, perform the following:
- Open Desktop and select Options > Open Configuration
- Locate the older desktop file (which has a .dsk extension) and click [Open]
- The older desktop file will then be automatically upgraded
If you want to use this configuration whenever you open desktop, select Options > Desktop Settings, click [Current] (to select the old configuration that you just upgraded), and then click [Save].
